Introducing Sound Booster

Sound Booster is a simple yet powerful app for an enhanced audio experience on your Mac.

Sound Booster works seamlessly in the background, focusing on the following three major features with the help of an optional component:

1. Boosting the volume of all apps on your mac
2. System-wide equalizer
3. Changing the volume of individual apps to your liking

In addition, you can add apps to the Excluded Apps list to automatically switch Sound Booster on or off depending on the currently active application.

Once you try Sound Booster, you’ll wonder how you ever went without it! Combining the best features of several audio modification apps on the Mac, Sound Booster is the only app you need to get everything you want out of your Mac audio experience.

iFatWallet 0.10 Finished, But Unable to Submit

When Apple announced their new Swift programming language, I was pretty pysched. Having learned Objective-C from scratch in February of 2009 when FroYoSoft was established, the age of the Apple-only programming language (which is older than me, incidentally) definitely shows. The syntax is something that isn’t found in any of the other mainstream programming languages I have come across, but it was all one had to work with if one wanted to publish apps for iOS, and so I dealt with it.

Today, Objective-C has become rather familiar, but it’s still a fairly significant shift from say Python, or C#, or Javascript. To accomplish larger scale apps today, it’s necessary to use technologies from all different walks, and the constant context switching is taxing to say the least. Swift will do a lot to alleviate that pain point.

But enough about Swift, the point of this post is to announce that I have completed a 0.10 version of the iFatWallet app, of which there is a short description here. Unfortunately, it is written in Swift with Apple’s XCode 6 Beta 2, which means I cannot submit the app until XCode 6 and Swift are out of beta. I only found this out after the app is completed and I tried to submit it to the App Store. Oh well, I’m a patient man and so we shall play the waiting game. =]

Ventastic 0.1 Submitted to App Store

What is Ventastic?

Going along with our theme of VoIP apps, Ventastic is an iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch) client for Ventrilo.

Why Ventastic?

Given that Ventrilo is still widely used in the gaming community, an affordable client for iOS does not exist at the time of this post. This is the niche that Ventastic would like to fill.

When and Where is Ventastic?

Ventastic was submitted to Apple for review a few days ago, so it should be uploaded live to the App Store within the next several days. The last app was approved within a week by Apple, but that was an update and not a full on new app, so this one may take a bit longer.

As always, thank you for choosing a FroYoSoft product, and if you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

VentMumble Beta Released

If you are reading this, it means you have been invited to test the initial beta launch of VentMumble.

What is VentMumble? It is an application that lets you connect to both Ventrilo and Mumble, without having to download two separate applications and get used to different interfaces. It also builds upon the feature set of both Ventrilo and Mumble, allowing users to do things that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to, such as adjust individual user volumes in Mumble.

One common complaint from a user’s perspective in today’s fractured low latency voice communication market is that they have to download many different clients to connect to their favorite voice communication servers; not only that, one has to adjust to different user interfaces and get used to different configuration settings. VentMumble aims to be the application that solves that problem. No longer will you have to download both Ventrilo and Mumble to connect to their servers. Plus, enjoy the best of both worlds, like a modern and transparent overlay when connected to a Ventrilo server or adjustable individual user volumes when connected to a Mumble Server.

Being that this is the initial public beta release, you may encounter some bugs. Please feel free to report these by using the Contact Us form or emailing me directly at contact@froyosoft.com. For those of you who are interested, if you are submitting bugs and otherwise helping to test and improve the program, you may be eligible to have your name mentioned in the about box. It should remain there for the foreseeable future.

Cheers, and happy VentMumbling!

Site Migration and Makeover Complete

The dedicated server on which FroYoSoft.com runs has been upgraded for better and faster performance. Not that the site had performance problems before, but upgrading a dedicated server every 3 years seems like the wise thing to do. It’s a bit of a hassle to migrate everything over manually, but it has made the system leaner by reducing the number of unneeded packages that were running.

The website also got a makeover, transitioning from a javascript heavy site over to a static (css/html) heavy site has made the site a lot easier to debug, and should be beneficial to web crawlers as well. Google come crawl our site! 🙂 Anyway, hope you guys like the new design!

Tor Assistant 1.0 Released

Tor Assistant, a parser and helper program for SWTOR has been released.

Tor Assistant helps you perform at your best in SWTOR by giving you a wide range of tools at your disposal.

In the next major update, MOX compatibility will be added, so that you may sync to any kind of raid. This is necessary because MOX has a dominant market share at the moment, and due to the network effect, it’s very difficult to get widespread usage of another parser without at least having MOX installed. With this pending update, users will be able to use exclusively Tor Assistant if they so choose.

Feature List

  • Raid DPS/HPS Meter
  • Combat Timer
  • Enrage Timer
  • Eternity Vault Pylon Solver
  • Individual Damage/Healing Info

Status: In Review… for 54 days?

Our app, Ultimate Mafia – Real World Land Wars has been in review for 54 days now. This is the amount of time it has taken from the last update we made to the submission, so the queue has not been reset and this is the amount of time it is taking for a single iteration of an Apple Reviewer to look at our app.

We have emailed Apple on multiple occasions, all of which were met with generic canned responses, and calls to them were redirected to the email address.

Is this experience normal? If all the app developers were aware of this from the very beginning, would they still make the decision to spend months after months of their hard work developing for the App Store?

PS. our other app, Winning 888, took approximately 42 days to be approved.

Site and Blog Up and Running

The first version of the site has been completed. As can be seen, there are still some rough edges that need to be straightened out. For the most part, it has all the essential features in place and ready.

While we are waiting for Apple to approve Ultimate Mafia – Real World Land Wars and Winning 888, we are working on another title code named Green Tea.

Please check back with us soon! =]
